Hi, I’m Alex.
A grounded, collaborative, and honest approach to change.
I don’t offer surface-level fixes.
I help people become more whole and more able to show up in their life.
I believe in that process because I’ve lived it and I’ve seen many people go from confusion and not having hope, to learning how to choose themself, align their actions with what they really want, and open up to what may be possible for them if they are able to show up consistently for themselves.
Honest Work.
Even as a kid, I was drawn to big questions about suffering, connection, and what it means to live a meaningful life. While some looked for answers in success or distraction, I turned toward stillness and deeper reflection.
I studied Health Sciences, worked in physical health, but I felt that something important was missing. I wanted to help people to create changes at a deeper level.
Why I Became a Therapist.
I didn’t just study therapy, I have lived experience of struggling with anxiety, depression, and relational trauma passed down through my family system generationally.
I spent years feeling anxious, numb, and disconnected. Early attempts at getting the right help through clinical psychology and antidepressants felt surface-level and didn’t meet me where I was at, not recognising how shut down I really was underneath a high-functioning personality.
When I finally sat with a therapist who met me in a real, relational way, things began to shift.
I learned I wasn’t “broken”. What I’d carried was unprocessed pain, old survival strategies, and disconnection that had never been named.
With the right support, I came back to myself. More grounded, more whole, more able to show up for myself, and others.
What I Offer As a Therapist.
Through my training, which was thorough and aimed at learning over getting a piece of paper to graduate with, I learned that this is the space that needs to be provided as a container for people to feel supported, appropriately challenged, and seen in a way that meets them where they’re at.
That’s the kind of space I offer.
Not to “fix” you, but to help you turn toward what is at the heart and roots of what ails you.
Not to tell you how you should live your life, but to help you find the answers within you.
Not to use a cookie-cutter approach that doesn’t suit your way of working.
If you don’t end up feeling like we are a good fit, there is no obligation to feel like you owe me to continue.
Some may have a preference not to work in this way, and perhaps they prefer a more clinical or different approach, or decide they want to work with someone different.
No harm done.
Why This Work Matters To Me (and You).
While we certainly don’t have a perfectly functioning mental health care system, there is a lot of training and lived experience that goes into this way of creating positive change in people’s lives.
I love this work because it is grounding, real, and fulfilling, though it can be challenging.
But that is how I know it is important.
Therapy doesn’t always have to be hard and focused on problems. It can also be focused on the positive aspects of your life, where you derive meaning from, the qualities that you are already proud, and the aspects of yourself that may not be getting the attention they deserve, from yourself and others.
I don’t pretend to know all the answers and am highly skeptical of anyone who says they do.
I don’t see healing and growth as something to be pandered to forever, nor something that can be reduced to strategies and techniques, although this can be very beneficial.
The wisdom of working relationally and in the way I am referring to here is that the frame allows for healing to take place under the conditions that we require. Meaning that good therapy should model how this is possible between session in your actual life, rather than create dependence on a therapist to provide the conditions alone.
I do this work because I am passionate about helping people.
Therapy made a huge difference in my life, but that wasn’t the end, and it may sound contrived but it can be the beginning of a new relationship with ourselves and the world we uniquely experience.
I hope this gives you some insight into my way of being of service.
